Elections delayed

One of the most exciting features in Tera is undoubtedly the political system. Running a promotional campaign, being elected by popular vote or by dominating battlegrounds and finally becoming the ruler of one of the 15 provinces might be the goal of many guilds. Who has not dreamed of proudly crossing Arborea mounted on a Vanarch horse followed by a dozen guildies?

The first election was supposed to be on 9th of May. Some guilds, like «Whitestar» and «The Crimson Eye», had already planned their campaign and announced it on the forums. However, a few hours later, Raven declared that the political system would be delayed:
As it is written in our news, we'll announce the date in advance before the system will be activated and we'll stick to this. We'll have more news on that in the next couple of days. So the system will be activated after our announcement, so you can prepare yourself.

How does our community respond to this? Are you disappointed or do you think the delay is a good opportunity to prepare yourself better?

Sam, the leader of «Outlaw», was expecting the delay and isn't bothered by it. He believes it will give less known guilds some time to build a reputation and for small guilds to gather the resources they need to run in the election.« It will give us some time to see how the economy works» he says.
His opinion is shared by Sonho, the guildleader of «Curleh Mustache», he only deplores that the date hasn't been changed ingame.
Sylver, the leader of «The Crimson Eye», is ambivalent towards the change:
«It is quite annoying since we were expecting it and were making plans for this period, although the plans we had were kind of rushed. So it might have been a good thing so we can prepare better next time!»

We know now that the voting stage of the first election will start on 23rd of May but we do not know who will be the favourite candidate on Samael. Only one thing is certain: Samael News will follow the election closely and share all information and scoops about it!

Question of the Week

Every week, you will find in Samael News the « Question of the week », asked directly in game by one of our reporters to players selected by chance.

Would you have enjoyed to attempt the Prime title, and why?

Ganhala,
Castanic sorcerer from <Phoenix Tears>:
No. I play this game for fun, not for glory

Vasjiir,
human warrior, from <Sage>:
No, I simply can't sit in front of my computer for 24/7 until I'd get to 60. I do play some 12 hours sessions, but more than that often is a no go.

Deathslayer,
Castanic warrior from <Heaven Eight>:
"Well, of course. Who doesn't like fame? Just the feeling of being The Boss is awesome"

Valora,
Castanic Warrior from <Curleh Mustache>:
"I did it on my first character, Valtor, my zerker. I just like competition and for once the title for server first actually sounded good in my opinion. I tried but I didn't win"

Screenshot of the week

This week's screenshot was sent to us by Eruza from Kollektivet guild.

Eruza's description: "The picture is taken from the first Skygarden run I did as tank. We didn't know the tacts so the platform bugged and spawned too many adds :P"

Samael News release!

Early access and release included, ten days have passed since we began playing Tera. Ten days of wonder and fights in the world of Arborea.
Some have already reached the level cap, while others are taking their time. Rivalities and alliance are arrousing slowly, as guilds fight each other, and small squads assault lonely players. Our server community is taking shape, step by step.
Sometimes we could think that Samael is too peacefull or too quiet when we compare it to Essenia. Nothing had been previously planed or organised. In most of the cases, guilds didn't knew each other. That's also great news, because it means that everything had to be done! Samael is like a virgin island, waiting for adventurers to explore it, and to transform it as they dream it to be.
We hope that Samael News will not only be the witness of our server and our community taking shape, but will also help and encourage every individual and every guild to actively participate in it.
For us to enjoy this virtual world in the coming months (and years) we will need to be active and creative!

Flash News

Every week Samael News will inform it's readers about the lastest news of the server in the weekly rubric 'Flash news'.

Read Samael News every monday to know what's going on!

  •  <Elin Dance Squad> had been forced to migrate from Essenia (the server where all hardcore PVP guilds have chosen to establish themselves) due to some funny guys stealing their guild name and ruining their reputation by ganking players. <Elin Dance Squad> have found a home on the Samael server. (see our interview for more info)

  •  27th of april: Several high level players from <The Avengers> had been blocking the Lumbertown bridge, making sure no players could complete their quests in the Fairy Forest

  •  <Elin Dance Squad> apparently is creating jealousy. A guild called <Elin Kill Squad> has been created on Samael. Supposedly recruiting exclusively non-Elin players and focusing on Elin extermination. Our reporters have already spotted a red haired Elin slayer wearing the guild Tag. The project doesn't seem very serious, and after five days we haven't seen any more of them. (see our interview for more info)
  •  On the 3rd of May at noon, Tera was officialy released! However, the starting zone was surprinsingly empty most of the day.
  • 4th of May, around noon: Ironman, Baraka slayer and Lyanisu, Elin berseker from <Evil League of Evil> hit level 60, making them the first on the server to reach the maximum level! Congratulations to them.

  •  Friday 4th of May: Several members of the guild <Deep Trotteur>, lead by the human Danois, declared to possess the Essenian Crest, and kill on sight everyone in the area. Tired by their endless griefing, <Outlaw> organized a small offensive to strike back. Several minutes later, the dead bodies of the <Deep Trotteur> members were strewn around in the mud.

  •  Saturday, 5th of May: Mikeimus, leader of <Sunstrider>, publicly accused the guild <Rigor Mortis> to have used spies against them to win the war between them. Recruited as Sunstrider members, the two spies had apparently divulged information back to their own guild.
    • Mikeimus, posting in the Samael forums, later stated :-"Lets face it, I don't really mind that my guild has encountered a GvG Loss. However what I do care about is that this guild in particular do not know how to win a fair fight. Their excuse was we were killing lowbies".

  •  Sunday 6th May, around 4 o'clock: Vanille, Human Sorcerer, Koko, Castanic warrior and Eleanor, Castanic Archer from <Soul Eater> reached the level cap and earned the title of "Prime". Vanille had been the first one of the group to ding. Congratulations to them!

GvG: Report

Elin Dance Squad vs. Outlaw

As our server is one of the PvP servers, we would like to inform you on a regular basis on GvG battles happening on Samael!

Even though the first week is supposed to be a bit calmer since everyone is focused on levelling and getting to know the game, we could see that PvP-wise our server's community was really busy. Fresh guilds have already started to declare wars on each other from the first day of headstart. One of the most active guilds during this period was League of Legends guild, making an easy resemblance with their name to the popular MOBA game (which apparently didn't win them many friends). Unfortunately, we could not see much success from them during their battles and now their guild seems quite dead.

The biggest guild on the server (not anymore, thanks to Darkness) - how they advertised themselfes in the beggining - the Curleh Mustache was also fighting actively since day one with different results. Other big guilds of Samael also made their appearance during the first days - Outlaw, Kollektivet and Elin Dance Squad are the most recognizable out of them.

The 1st of May can be declared as a 'day of draws' - out of 26 ongoing GvG battles 15 of them ended with a draw! Apparently International Workers' Day does not encourage active PvP.

One of the most interesting events of the first week of Samael on the GvG field was the action taken by members of Rigor Mortis on the Sunstriders guild. As you may have read in the flash news (original thread), they used a devious tactic, using spies to gain advantage over their opponent during their guild war, netting them a win. It is exciting to see what kind of tactics the players can come up with in order to win their battles - even if some of the methods may be morally disputable.

As the game progresses we can observe an increasing amount of ongoing battles, with many new guilds on the scene fighting for their spot in the Samael hall of fame. One of the most active guilds for current time are:

  • Darkness,
  • Evil League of Evil,
  • Vehement,
  • Swag City,
  • Overpower,
  • Sunstriders,
  • Bad Manner,
  • Omega,
  • Golden Phoenix

Many of them are fighting on many fronts - let's see if they can manage to obtain the ultimate victory!
