Flash News : Week 4

Every week Samael News will inform it's readers about the lastest news of the server in the weekly rubric 'Flash news'.
Read Samael News every monday to know what's going on!

  • Different guilds added their political campaign promotion posts at the begining of this week: <WhiteLotus>, <Darkness>, <Insane>, <Rigor Mortis>, <Soul Eater>, <Outlaw> and <Exiled>. For more information concerning the evolution of the Elections, please check our Election Daily Report.

  •  22-05-12, <Whitestar> organised a small event to promote their guild before the election: "Meet our pirates". Different guilds joined <Whitestar> in Cutthroat Harbour and had some fun fighting each other in friendly duels. Some members of <The Crimson Eye>, <Divine>, <Nerf>, <Innocent>, Verex <Darkness>, Justiice <Vehement>(he changed guild again) and Glen <Outlaw> was present. <Bad Manner> also participated, unfortunately one of their member, Angry, had stocked too much infamy and died several times before people understood he wasn't there to grief the party.
  • Meanwhile, <Elin Dance Squad>, <Malectum>, and Code, leader of <Insane> had their daily show on Velika's Stairs.

  •  23-05-12, after a extended maintenance, players could finally elect the future Vanarch of their choice. Code <Insane> is leading in Arun, Mikichi <Elin Dance Squad> in North Shara, and Magister <Darkness> in South Shara. We are surprised that Ironman and his guild didn't register for the election. For more details about elections, please read our Election Daily Reports.

  •  26-05-12: A new pleague is ravaging Arcadia. Name is Bruna, a female Aman Archer who decided to follow Akanee's path. Perhaps it's the same player, considering his comments in the area chat attempting to provoke the poor players trying to level their character: "HEADSHOT". Different high level decided to take measures against him. We met in Cresentia, Potato <Tangra> on his alt, Kat <Outlaw> and Karneelya <Whitestar>for example.

  • We can follow a new argument in the Samael forum, between the guild <Exiled> and the guild <Hentaï Pornstar>. For that we need to go back in time, when <Exiled> and <Hentaï Pornstar> had a guild wars against each other. Araella, one officer from <Hentaï Pornstar> had infiltrated <Exiled> with his character Llia and had been accused to be feeding his main guild. The character named Illya had been seen killed seven time in a row, doing nothing, in front of Lumbertown. But this Illiya claim <Hentai Pornstar>, doesn't belong to their guild.
    • Sunni's reaction : I don't like our guild being accused of things that never happened. The person he accused of feeding isn't in our guild or associated with us, it's just non sense. We planted a person in their guild to find the locations of their members, we were ahead by 10 points in the war anyway, it was just as we wanted some pvp action.
    • Alek's reaction (co leader of <Exiled>) : Well we are not trying to make HP looking bad by making said accusation. the arguement was a result of HP officer, Araella, doubting Kittycats promises to keep PVP enabled because of our previous GvG history.During that GvG we had an unpleasant experience as some of our member was killed repeatedly by HP members? Some even admitted their feeding in our guild chat before leaving, wich is the reason of our dislike in HP. We 're not accusing the HP staff for planning this, we are just saying one or more of their members feeded. Araella's input seem to be based on hisability to make convincing post based on nothing.

Elections : 4th Daily report

During the election week Samael News will inform you every day on the position of our Vanarch candidates - commented by themselves.

Sunday 27-05-12

Ranking are very stable, both in the top 5, or lower in the ranks. Divine has still not managed to get into the top 5 of South Shara, despite all their effort. Exiled had been dethroned by Honor Bound today for Sylvanoth Area, but we know that both guild are competiting very closely,  it's certainly not a secured victory.

South Shara

1.Darkness -Magister (Veritas District)
2.Tangra -Deathie (Val Elenium)
3.Hentai Pornstar - Sunni (Westonia)
4. Viking of Midgard - Brutusbrutal (Val Parada)
5. Trollface - Priest (Essenia)

Paralysis <PRIME> comments : Even though the elections are not in our favor at the moment, I'm sure the Elected Vanarchs will do a great job. And that we look forward to representing the community in the next round!

North Shara

1. Elin Dance Squad - Mikichi (Lorcada)
2. Malectum - Milfurd (Helkan District)
3. The Crimson Eye - Sylver (Val Tirkai)
4. Outlaw - Sam  (Val Kaeli)
5. Honor Bound - (Sylvanoth)

Mikichi <Elin Dance Squad> comments : I think we have been going very well for the past few days, even though some victories seem to be secured already, there are still many days left and anything can happen during those next few days.

Arun

1. Insane - Code (Ostgarath)
2. Soul Eater - Neal (Poporia)
3. Whitestar- Acharial (Arcadia)
4. Rigor Mortis - Torztomp (Val Aureum)
5.   Big Eyes Small Mouth - Chobits (Isle of Dawn)

Acharial <Whitestar> comments : It’s nice to see all guilds working hard for their campaigns even when the votes seem to have settled down. I’m personally very happy about Whitestar’s standing in the current election and wish you all out there a big good luck and thank you for voting for us so far.

GvG report

    Hello Samael players!
Another week behind us and here is another GvG report! As usual, remember that those numbers apply to wars finished between 3rd of May, past 14:13 and 28th of May, 12:55.
Until now, 748 times guilds clashed with each other! Situation is still changing, although the leaders still remain on their positions! New guilds are starting to participate and we are more than happy to see this will to fight in our players.
Once again, I have updated the statistics. Below you can see the most active guilds in GvG so far:
  • Darkness - 63 wars
  • Overpower - 46 wars
  • Outer Heaven - 38 wars
  • Trollface - 37 wars
  • Tangra - 35 wars
  • Malectum - 33 wars
  • Divium Furor - 32 wars
  • Bad Manner - 31 wars
  • Insane - 29 wars
  • Vehement - 29 wars
  • Honor Bound - 26 wars
  • Titans - 23 wars
  • Outlaw - 21 wars
  • Vikings of Midgar - 21 wars
  • Crimson Knights - 20 wars
  • White Lotus - 20 wars
Mostly the same names as in the last week, just with increasing numbers next to them.
It would not be a complete report without our favourite rankings! The most succesful and the most unsuccesful guilds on Samael are:

Highest Win-Loss ratio:
1.Bad Manner 31
2.Overpower 20
3.Outer Heaven 16
4.Divium Furor, Honor Bound 15
5.Elin Dance Squad 14
6.Innocent 13
7.Vehement 12
8.Hentai Pornstars 11
9.Nerf 9

Lowest Win-Loss ratio:
1.Darkness -38
2.Insane -16
3.Trollface -14
4.Vikings of Midgard -13
5.White Lotus -11
6.Crimson Knights -10
7.Astrolabium, Sisu -7
8.Force, Imperium -6
9.Elysium -5

(as always, numbers next to the name indicate amount of win-loss-surrender)

As we may see, leaders of both rankings are still on the first position! Bad Manner stays unbeatable and Darkness is holding their spot firmly... We know the first position is something special but maybe it is the time to show us a really epic comeback, Darkness?
As for the highest ratio ranking, Overpower was fighting extremely well in the past week, showing us few consecutive 3x victories, making them jump 2 positions up. Same situation with Divium Furor, performing really good aswel, losing recently to our new rising star - Nerf. Outer Heaven and Honor Bound still high in the ladder too. We could also see increased activity among little Elins, which secured them fifth position - are they trying to detronize the leader after their last dispute? We are looking forward to the next week battles!
Let's take a look on the other list: most of the guilds, except Astrolabium, were here in the previous week too. When updating the list, I noticed one thing - Vikings of Midgard are not fighting lately as vikings should, ie. surrendering a lot. We hope that you will show us a true northern spirit in the upcoming time, guys!
Leaders of the first ranking, congratulations! The rest - fight hard to disappear from the second one!

As I have noticed, last report started some fierce discussion in the comments. I am happy that you guys enjoy the read, please keep a certain level when discussing though ;).

Remember, if you are a witness of a GvG fight, you have some interesting info on some disputes, alliances - leave a comment, send a mail or poke one of us in-game. See you next week!

Question of the week

Every week, you will find in Samael News the « Question of the week », asked directly in game by one of our reporters to players selected by chance.

Why did you cast your vote on the guild you voted on?

Killerchild
Elin Sorcerer <guildless>
I voted for a guild of wich I never heard something bad, and never seen it spaming of chat.

Bastien,
Castanic Berserker  <guildless>
To be completly honnest, because it had a lot of recommendations, read what it had to offer, and it sounded, well, sufficient.

Pseude
Human Archer from  <Existance>  :
I saw their add on the forum. I'm also quite familiar with their face in game.

Malcheesar
Human Warrior from <Triallion>  :
Well, i haven't really voted for a Vanarch yet, as I'm quite new to this game. The political system seems like a fun and motivating system to empower more social interaction with other players, as it does promote PVP at the same time. I've been reading a bit on the forum about different Vanarchs, but I'm not really sure who to vote for yet.

Elections - 3rd Daily Report

During the election week Samael News will inform you every day on the position of our Vanarch candidates - commented by themselves.

Saturday 26-05-12

Not much change happened this day, and you will notice that the ranking is exactly the same than the first day. <Viking of Midguard> is again in the 4th position and <Trollface> is now seriously menaced by <Divine>. We have also observed during the day many switch between <Honor Bound> and <Exiled> that are disputing the 5th place in North Shara. The competition for those guilds must be really thrilling.

South Shara

1.Darkness -Magister (veritas District)
2.Tangra -Deathie (Val Elenium)
3.Hentai Pornstar - Sunni (Westonia)
4. Viking of Midgard - Brutusbrutal (Val parada)
5. Trollface - Priest (Essenia)

Brutusbrutal <Viking of Midgard> comments : I'm happy to be in the top 5, but as it's the first election, we are more experimenting it. It's still important we win this first election as it's from there we know how to run Vanarch for an area. I appreciate all the help we have gotten from all people who voted for us.

North Shara

1. Elin Dance Squad- Mikichi (Lorcada)
2. Malectum - Milfurd (Helkan District)
3. The Crimson Eye - Sylver (Val Tirkai)
4. Outlaw - Sam  (Val Kaeli)
5. Exiled - Kittycat (Essenia)

Arun

1. Insane-Code (Ostgarath)
2. Soul Eater-Neal (Poporia)
3. Whitestar-Acharial (Arcadia)
4. Rigor Mortis-Torztomp (Val Aureum)
5. Big Eyes Small Mouth - Chobits (Isle of Dawn)

Slot <Force> (6th positioncomments : It's too bad. Guilds with less than 100 praise points will rule and they will not have the points needed to open all shops for Velikan.

Elections - 2nd Daily Report

During the election week Samael News will inform you every day on the position of our Vanarch candidates - commented by themselves.

Tuesday 24-05-12

Very few changes in the ranking.<Trollface> lose a place in favour of <Viking of Midgard>, and is followed by the very active and persistent guild <Divine>. Indeed, several of their members are going from one region to another, making their promotion on the area chat, or directly by chatting with new players, explaining them the election system.
<Exiled> dethroned < Honor Bound> and is again in the top 5 of North Shara. The competition is not very high for this part of Arborea, considering that there is only seven guilds disputing the five Vanarch places. The competition is harder on South Shara with 20 guilds and Arun with 16 guilds.
Some guilds are still behind, while having presented an impecable program. This is the case, for example of <PRIME>, still at 12th position for South Shara.
No changes had been noticed in Arun.

 South Shara

  1. <Darkness> -  Magister (Veritas District)
  2. <Tangra> - Deathie (Val Elenium)
  3. <Hentai Pornstar> - Sunni (Westonia)
  4.  <Viking of Midgard>  - Brutusbrutal (Val Parada)
  5.  <Trollface> - Priest   (Essenia)

Katsu <Divine> (6th place) comments : We are working as hard as we can to gain enough to reach 5th place. Very stressfull time at the moment. We have gained some of the votes we intented to get but we are still missing votes from some group. Hopefully they come online to vote before the election ends.

North Shara

  1.  <Elin Dance Squad> - Mikichi (Lorcada)
  2.  <Malectum> - Milfurd (Helkan District)
  3.  <The Crimson Eye> - Sylver (Val Tirkai)
  4. <Outlaw> - Sam  (Val Kaeli)
  5.  <Exiled> - Kittycat (Val Kaeli)

Chemical <Serene Security> (7th place) comments : We are losing the elections but there is still 6 days left, so we will have to wait and see how everything turns out to be. As I've noticed all the ranking are changing every few hours so no one is guarantted his spot. And many people are yet to come online and vote.

Arun

  1. <Insane> - Code (Ostgarath)
  2. <Soul Eater> - Neal (Poporia)
  3. <Whitestar> - Acharial (Arcadia)
  4. <Rigor Mortis> - Torztomp (Val Aureum)
  5.  <Big Eyes Small Mouth> - Chobits (Isle of Dawn)

Code, <Insane> : We didn't expect this support to our guild, seems that our funny message has helped us!

Elections - 1st daily report

Elections Daily Report

During the election week Samael News will inform you every day on the position of our Vanarch candidates - commented by themselves.

Wednesday 23-05-12

First day of the first Elections of Samael. A historic moment in the life of our server!  We are all very excited and impatient to know how everything turns out.
Some victories seem to be won in advance. No one will be surprised, for example, to see <Elin Dance Squad> beeing Vanarch of their chosen zone, as they are a well established and praised guild.
Some smaller or less known guilds are already nicely classified. Will they stay in place in the incomming days? Or will they lose their place at the last minute?
We can expect some surprises, good and bad, in the very next days!  Samael news will follow the voting stage very closely.

South Shara

  1. <Darkness> -  Magister (Veritas District)
  2. <Tangra> - Deathie (Val Elenium)
  3. <Hentai Pornstar> - Sunni (Westonia)
  4. <Trollface> - Priest (Val Parada)
  5.  <Viking of Midgard> - Brutusbrutal  (Essenia)

Magister <Darkness> comments : Anyone who votes or voted for us, we will return the favor by beeing one of the best vanarch guilds there will be. Everyone who vote for us will not be disapointed.

North Shara

  1.  <Elin Dance Squad> - Mikichi (Lorcada)
  2.  <Malectum> - Milfurd (Helkan District)
  3.  <The Crimson Eye> - Sylver (Val Tirkai)
  4. <Outlaw> - Sam  (Sylvanoth)
  5.  <Honor Bound> - Shana (Val Kaeli)

Kittycat < Exiled> (ranked 6th) comments : For now, no worries. We only got 5-10% yet of the votes we "arranged". We are going for Sylvanoth, so it seems we are up against Honor Bound. But we would also like just any zone really.

Arun

  1. <Insane> - Code (Ostgarath)
  2. <Soul Eater> - Neal (Poporia)
  3. <Whitestar> - Acharial (Arcadia)
  4. <Rigor Mortis> - Torztomp (Val Aureum)
  5.  <Big Eyes Small Mouth> - Chobits (Isle of Dawn)

Torztomp <Rigor Mortis> comments : There is still one week left and we are hopping for the best. If everything turns out alright, cool...If not, there is always a next time.
We would be happy with any of the Velika regions, it's the 1th election and it would be nice to see what the Vanarch system has to offer.

Flash News : Week 3

Every week Samael News will inform it's readers about the lastest news of the server in the weekly rubric 'Flash news'.
Read Samael News every monday to know what's going on!

  • Since the launch of Tera, we have witnessed the end of several guilds
    • <Immortal>, lead by Tomaseth had not be disbanded, but the guild had been abandoned with ten unactive members left. "I have just found out that my officers aren't even getting the game and are sticking with World of Borecraft... I think that's the breaker for me." confessed Tomaseth.
    • <Sunstriders> had been disbanded, due to similar reasons: inactivity from officers, lazy recruitement. The ex leader, Mikeitank have found a home in <Definition>, a PVP guild of 79 members, as an officer.
    • <Whitefall> had been abandoned by its leader Softy, some officers, and several members. Unsatisfied by the server, which they didn't find competitive enough, they moved to Essenia.  "We were doing fine on Samael indeed, a bit too fine perhaps. We prefer to be in a more populated server where everyone takes things more seriously, atleast that's how we experience and see it. Whilst people in Samael were confused about how to get their rebirth weapons, people in Essenia already had +9 sets including +9 weapons. The heavier the competition, the more fun for us", shared Softy. The remaining members of <Whitefall> have merged with the guild <Amnesia Gaming> (Justiice was their leader) under the tag: <Retribution>. The new leader is Dave.
    • Justiice declared that the leaders of <Outlaw>, Sam and Glenn, would have have asked him to take the lead of their guild, because they were busy playing Diablo III. Justiice would have declined this proposition. However according to <Outlaw> members, their guild is doing just fine and their leaders are still active. Samael News  is waiting for an official answer from <Outlaw> leaders.
    •  Sonjo, leader of <Curleh Mustach> had been hacked. His character  and the guild bank had obviously been robbed. <Curleh Mustach>'s players have been forced to migrate to other guilds. "I do not have the time to start over, but several guildmembers and players of the community has been willing to help me. Maybe in the future we'll go again." confessed Sonjo
  • 17-05-12: <Honour Bound> and <Trollface> had been seen in different place fighting each others. <Trollface>, a heavy PVP guild for russian speaking players, had shown themselves very aggressive, ganking and camping lower level players. The issue ended by <Honour Bound> declaring war on <Trollface> as punishement for their behaviour.

  • 17-05-12:  <Olympus Exiles>, a spartan guild is gathering for the very first time on Velika stairs. <Olympus Exile> is a guild formed by real life friends and is surprisely large: 68 members! We can imagine how fun a real life guild meeting must be! Their leader AOD, is trying to rush the leveling and be level 50 in time to apply as Vanarch for the area of Val Aureum or Poporia. "We are good company" said Kagarou, one of their members

  • 19-05-12: Velika stairs are definitively the best place to be noticed. <Elin Dance Squad> started their traditional dancing show on their favourite place since the CBT. A good way to further their political campaign.

  • 19-05-12: An issue between <Elin Dance Squad> and <Bad Manners> that arised during their guild wars is taking dramatic proportion. Some members of EDS, irritated by Bad Manners' players abusing of safe zones during the battle, insulted and mocked the russian guild. Noir from EDS, and Kyouki, in particuliar, seem to have crossed the line. <Bad Manners> has been seriously offended and point those members as racists, sharing screenshots of the talk. "It's ok to be annoyed, but no need to spit out racist slurs just because you are butthurt." said a member of Bad Manner on the European forum where the drama is taking place. To what Mikichi, the leader of EDS answered : "I'm sorry to say Loliqt but I see no racism in any of those chats at all. Yes, there was trash talk but we (as in both us and you) are mature people. If you take that as an insult, then I think the internet is not for you."; "Obvious troll is obvious. I don't understand why people always target us", said Mikichi.
  • 20-05-12: The Crimson Eye Tournament had unfortunately been postponed for the next week due to a lack of interest and only 4 guilds signed. Rendez-vous next Sunday afternoon!

GvG report

Bad Manner vs Crit Happens

    Fellow Samael players!
First of all, let me thank you for the word of encouragement we have received, both by emails, comments or in-game whispers! We are making Samael News for you and such feedback is really keeping us motivated to continue the work.
This week we would like to present you another GvG report! Remember that actual numbers below may differ a bit from reality - the game is keeping track of limited timeframe, hence those results apply only to wars finished between 3rd of May, past 14:13 and 20th of May, 20:08.
Until now, we witnessed 541 guild wars! There are new guilds on the scene, old ones are fighting on different fronts, alliances are being made to help achieve both PvP and political goals and we also can observe the beginning of 'dramas' concerning the guild versus guild wars.
I have updated the statistics and below you can see the most active guilds in GvG area:
  • Crimson Knights - 17 wars
  • Bad Manner - 26 wars
  • Darkness - 46 wars
  • Divium Furor - 20 wars
  • Elysium - 16 wars
  • Innocent - 16 wars
  • Insane - 22 wars
  • Malectum - 23 wars
  • Outer Heaven - 26 wars
  • Outlaw - 18 wars
  • Overpower - 28 wars
  • Potato - 15 wars
  • Serenity - 18 wars
  • Tangra - 18 wars
  • Titans - 19 wars
  • Trollface - 24 wars
  • Vehement - 18 wars

Curleh Mustache vs Divium Furor

Darkness is leading in the amount of wars - the biggest guild is the target of many. Others are not sleeping - as we can see Bad Manner, Outer Heaven and Overpower are not so far with almost 30 wars.
Before commenting on the rankings below, please keep in mind what I have stated in the first paragraph.
Ladies and gentlemen! The most successful guilds followed by those that are not performing that well on Samael server in the past two weeks are:

Highest Win-Loss ratio:
  1. Bad Manner - 26
  2. Outer Heaven, Innocent - 12
  3. Vehement - 11
  4. Overpower - 10
  5. Hentai Pornstars, Evil League of Evil - 8
  6. Divium Furor, The Crimson Eye - 6
  7. Elin Dance Squad, Honor Bound, Malectum, Teravolence - 5
Lowest Win-Loss ratio:
  1. Darkness - -28
  2. White Lotus - -10
  3. Crimson Knights, Insane - -9
  4. Sisu - -6
  5. Elysium, Force, Imperium, Trollface, Vikings of Midgard - -5
(numbers next to the name indicate amount of win-loss-surrender)

Unfortunately, Darkness did not perform any better than last week - will we see some alliance including this guild to improve their score? Same goes for the other guilds with red numbers next to their name - we wish you guys more victories than defeats and hope to see some epic comebacks!
Now let's take a look on the other list. If you compare the ranking with the activity list you may notice a shocking fact - Bad Manner won all of their GvG wars, staying unbeatable untill now! Will this change in the nearest future? Their guerrila-style combat did its job so what kind of tactic will the other guilds use to bring them down from the number one position? Teravolence is debuting in GvG this week and they won all of their wars aswell but will they mantain this winning streak? Samael players surely know how to keep the emotions on the high level!
Another thing worth mentioning is the Evil League of Evil position - they did not take part in any GvG this week and they are still here.
Congratulations to the leaders of our ranking!

As the heat of the battles is imense, not everyone can keep their cool. We had a dispute between Elin Dance Squad and Bad Manner. Little warriors were accused of rascism and cursing the Russian players after losing the war. The conflict escalated to the official forums, as we may read in the EDS thread concerning politics.
We had some changes in the guilds on our server which include one of the bigger ones, Curleh Mustache - you can read about it in our Flash News section.

Remember, if you are a witness of a GvG fight, you have some interesting info on some disputes, alliances - leave a comment, send a mail or poke one of us in-game. See you next week!

Politics : Vanarch candidates get ready!

This week is a week of political campaigns, hidden strategies, and open alliances. This week, Vanarch candidates needs to convince players to vote for them, as the elections start the next Wednesday!
Each player will have the right to vote on one candidate per continent. That's a total of two votes per account. To earn the maximum votes will not be an easy task for the potential Vanarchs, in particuliar the guild leaders of small and lesser known guilds.

For those first elections, we have already seen different strategies.
Some guilds prefer to secretly secure their votes by establishing alliances together with large guilds. A rumour that <Elin Dance Squad> had settled an agreement with <Curleh Mustache> among other guilds had been denied by Mikichi : "We are not allied with anyone at all"
<Exiled> investigated discretly, trying to find the most profitable partner.
We have also witnessed a big merge between <Whitefall> and <Retribution>, right before the election: another strategy to secure more votes?

Others organise a more visible campaign on the Samael Forum, where they present their promises and goals:

  • Sylver for <The Crimson Eye >focuses on outlaw protection and is organising a Tournament,
  • Acharial and <Whitestar> promises services for the community and fun events through a video,
  • Thorsson for <Aequitas>' campaign focusing on low level protection and help, with a PVP disabled zone.
  • Paralysis for <PRIME> is proposing a program to help players to level in great conditions in Val Palrada,
  • Ironman <Evil Guild of Evil> want to ensure fun, no rules and PVP in his area
  • Sunni for <Hentaï Pornstar> will offer PVP events and Tournaments in his zone in addition of vendor services
  • Mikichi for <Elin Dance Squad> recently added their own campaign, making the usual promises concerning taxes and vendors, to wich they add a crafting service.
  • Tech for the <Crimson Knights> is publishing his campaign, but has been relatively unoticed, at least on the forum..

But will those campain be enough for them to succeed?

Surprisingly, so far, the area and LFG chan has not been used by Guild to promote their Vanarch. No improvised events in game, and no speeches to convince the population has been seen so far. Either Samael community is shy and discrete, or very secret when it comes to elections.
After all, it's the first elections for everyone. It's a test for all future Vanarchs, and we can bet that the next election, all of this will be very different.

- Elloa

Give us feedback! For who will you vote?
Next week, the election will start, and you, dear readers, will be voting. We would be really glad at Samael News, if you could share with us to whom will go your vote and why, as comment of this article.

Interview - Sunni of Hentai Pornstars

Interview about the political campaign with Sunni - guild leader of Hentai Pornstars.

Malera: Okay, so first let me ask you. Are you excited about the political system in Tera, and what do you hope it will achieve?
Sunni: Hmm not sure about excited but i'm rather intrigued to see how it will all work and play out. In truthfulness I've never played a game with a system similiar to this so it's all new to me so until this first vanarch period is over I'm not sure what I want it to do.

Malera: Your guild Hentai Pornstars is participating in the first election, is that correct?
Sunni: Absolutely.

Malera: When you started the guild, did you have this system in mind, or was it something that came later on?
Sunni: Originally the guild just started out as a few friends who came over to the game. Some people started taking a liking to our name and we had people joining to our surprise. After gaining a large amount of members we decided to switch over to being a real guild so the decision to run for vanarch came after.

Malera: How does it feel being a little smaller guild, trying to compete with bigger alliances, perhaps about the same province as you do?
Sunni: If i'm honest we was intimidated by others Vanarch campaigns so we decided to go for areas with less competition as we were unsure people would even vote for us.

Malera: So, which area are you going for?
Sunni: We originally planned to aim for Osgarath actually but then we saw Whitestar was also aiming for there so we completely backed out of there and decided to settle for anywhere in the Allemantheia district haha.

Malera: So lets say you get to rule the province you want. Could you tell our readers what will be the first thing you try to do?
Sunni: Well as Allemantheia is a higher level zone one of the first things we want to get open is the specialty vendors and we want to promote PvP within the game so possibly some events.

Malera: Last question
Sunni: Sure thing.

Malera: What is currently your favorite thing about Tera?
Sunni: Definitely the combat system it has the ability to go really far depending how the developers work on it. Everything just feels so fast paced and theres never a dull moment in fights.

Malera: Thank you so much Sunni for answering my questions!
Sunni: No problem.

Question of the week

Every week, you will find in Samael News the « Question of the week », asked directly in game by one of our reporters to players selected by chance.

Which zone would you pick to rule as a Vanarch?

GTO
Amani lancer, from <Hentai Pornstars>:
Essenia, since it's the first zone people need to go after Velika side.

Tessah
High Elf Slayer, from <Innocent>:
Hard question. First I'd never put myself up for Vanarch. And region would be Kastria or something like. The why is cause of the reputation farming.

Tagios
Human Warrior, from <Honor Bound>:
I have no ideas about what a Vanarch does and how it affect the game yet.

Platilulu
Popori Priest, from <Tangra>:
I'd probably pick up Velika. As I'm a friendly little beaver, I'd lower the taxes and help new players.

SN: The Second Issue

Here is the cover of our second issue!

First of all, Samael News Crew would like to thank you for the warm welcoming and support we have received from many, many players. Your word of encouragement on the forum, as well as comments on this blog and in-game whispers are encouraging our motivation and determination to continue this project, to improve it, and to use it for the good of the community.

This second week after the release the community is starting to take shape. How the guilds will prepare for the future elections? What alliances and rivalries will bloom on our server? What does the life of a level 60 look like so early in the game? And you, Dear Reader, would you prefer to follow in the footsteps of Ironman and Potato or to enjoy the game at your own pace?
You can find the answers for these questions in our new issue.

Flash News: Week 2

Every week Samael News will inform it's readers about the lastest news of the server in the weekly rubric 'Flash news'.

Read Samael News every monday to know what's going on!

  • 7th of May, 01:00 : Blacklotus, human lancer from <Third Eye> hit the level cap, 2h before his opponent that was racing for the prime: Justiice, aman guild master of <Amnesia Gaming>. We can understand the bitterness of the aman that had been leading the race almost to the end (see the article for more information). Congratulations to Blacklotus!

  • 8th of May, 22:00 : Whitestar publishes its Political Campain, axed arround the Community and a Pirate theme. They are applying for the jungles and islands of Ostgarath that they intent to transform in a place of festivities and games by organising one event each week. The next day, Sylver from <The Crimson Eye>, published his own campaign. His targeted province is Poporia. He offers protection for the people against outlaws and assitance in guild wars. He also promises to organise a Tournament. Unfortunately, few hours later the Tera Eu community manager Raven confessed that the politcal system is not implemented yet (see our article).

  • The Slayer Prime Ironman (see our interview) had been seen several times this week in Lumbertown massacring low level players by blocking the bridge. "The chat was full of so much rage and he was occasionally answering people raging, although all of his answers were troll-like." reports Bogz from <Cleavage KamikaZe>. Ironman had also wiped a party 6 levels below him that was engaged in a BAM fight, just for the pleasure of hearing them rage on their stream. "I had to kill those guys for live comments". The Baraka had confessed that he had nothing to do at level 60 other than being an outlaw or levelling new characters. It is a fact that there are not many opponents with same level on the server, but one can wonder - was all of that neccessary?

  • 10th of May: Zapfcarn, from <Ragnarok> accuse the leader of his former guild, <Kollektivet> to lead an action of revenge on <Ragnarok>. Nomii would have organised an alliance with six other guilds to attack and crush Ragnarok. In addition, Kollektivet had declared a war against its own alt guild. This action is interpreted by Zapfcarn as a lame way to get one more victory, which was denied by <Kollektivet>. To respond to the attack of several guilds, <Ragnarok> organised its own alliance. We guess that <Tangra> is a part of it. A stormy disscussion followed on the European forum between the two Norwegian guilds. This is the first 'drama' happening on Samael, and the dispute is certainly not finished. Samael News will follow this closely as we can expect more wars and more betrayals in the future.

  • Akanee, human slayer followed the footsteps of Ironman by terrorising Fey Forest and Celestial Hills. While most players were filled with rage, others appreciated the effort of the slayer to keep PVP alive on Samael. One of them made a thread on the forum calling it "Official Akanee Fan Club".

GvG report: numbers!

Another week and a lot of guild wars going on! In this week report, we are going to have a look at some numbers! Unfortunately, the game is keeping only limited amount of guild versus guild results, so those numbers will apply only to wars started after 3rd of May, past 14:13 and finished before 13th of May, 20:00 . Please keep that in mind.
During this time we have been spectators of 257 finished wars! The people of Samael surely are busy with fiercly fighting each other, we have only 9 surrenders. In all these wars exactly 173 guilds have participated. That is almost 1/3 of whole guilds on Samael, 674 for this moment. Let's remember that a lot of them are really small guilds, containing less than 10 members, so most of the bigger ones are actively participating in GvG activities.
How about results of all those wars then? We have few very succesful guilds on the scene at the moment and few that are not performing... that well. First, let's mention the most active guilds during this period:
  • Crimson Knights - 11 wars
  • Darkness - 22 wars
  • Elysium - 9 wars
  • Evil League of Evil - 10 wars
  • Insane - 10 wars
  • Malectum - 10 wars
  • Outer Heaven - 15 wars
  • Outlaw - 14 wars
  • Overpower - 10 wars
  • Potato - 9 wars
  • Sisu - 8 wars
  • Titans - 9 wars
  • Trollface - 10 wars
  • Vehement - 11 wars
  • Vikings of Midgard - 8 wars
When it comes to Win-Loss ratio some of the guilds mentioned above are also included in the ranking below. We would like to present ranking of the most succesful guilds of this week, together with those that performed quite opposite (number next to the guild name means count of wins-losses-surrenders):

Highest Win-Loss ratio:
  1. Vehement - 9
  2. Evil League of Evil - 8
  3. Outer Heaven ex aequo with Bad Manner - 7
  4. Potato - 5
  5. Elin Dance Squad, Hentai Pornstars, Outlaw - 4

Lowest Win-Loss ratio:
  1. Darkness - -16
  2. White Lotus - -6
  3. Elysium, Insane, Valkyrie, Vikings of Midgard - -4
  4. Crimson Knights, Sisu - -3
On Darkness example, we can clearly see that numbers are not everything - it is apparently harder to organise such a big guild during so many wars. Although, recently they had their 2 first victories, aswell as 2 draws. We will wait and see if they will recover from this losing strike and maybe appear in the other ranking! Also congratulations to the leaders of our ranking!
Few of the wars made some of us at least smile. Evil League of Evil defeating Justice or battle between vikings from Vikings, Vikings of Midgar, Lost Vikings and Viking Raiders are one of those funny moments.
Of course it could not do without some drama on our server during this week. Last time we had little espionage mission, now we were witnesses of a dispute started by a former member of Kollektivet and present member of Ragnarok, Zapfcarn. It also included a 'fake' guild war between Kollektivet and their alt guild Tevitkellok (which actually finished in the main guild losing!). You can read more about it in the flash news section!

We can see many ongoing battles, beign fought on many fronts and we cannot wait to see results of them! As this week shown, battling with many guilds at one time usually does not end up with only winning them. Also, will we get a new leader in the ranking? We look forward to battles in the next week!
If you happen to have screenshots of the GvG results from the previous period, I would really aprreciate if you could send them to me at rhashazi@gmail.com. In addition, if you are a witness of a guild versus guild fight, you have some information on some disputes related to them or you want to inform us about alliances - leave a comment, send a mail or poke us in-game!

Meeting with our Primes

Last Wednesday, 9th of May, I gathered all Primes for a meeting in front of Velika's Gates :
  • Ironman (Slayer)
  • Lyanisu (Berserker) from <Evil League of Evil>
  • Vanille (Sorcerer), Koko (Warrior)
  • Eleanor (Archer) from <Soul Eater>
  • Laizy (Priest) <Elin Dance Squad
  • Blacklotus (Lancer)<Third Eye
The reason for that was to take a screenshot of all Primes together, but it ended in a nice small gathering where everyone could chat with each other, and duel a bit. I obviously participated only as photographer.
I tried at some point to pretend that I was the Mystic Prime joining the meeting incognito but for some reasons no one believed me. For a long time, the Prime Mystic had been unknown for most people. His name had never been announced on forum and as Mystic is the rarest class in Tera (with the exception of my guild ;-) ) some believed that the title was still to take. So it was Wednesday when I finally learnt the name of the Mystic Prime : Potato, from <Tangra>. Unfortunately he was stuck in a hardmode instance and could not join our meeting.

The competition to earn such a title can be somewhat hard. For example the 'Lancer prime' title had been pursued by three players: Zelax, Justiice and Blacklotus. Blacklotus was levelling by himself and was killed by Justiice for a plant. At that moment Justiice was leading the race but when Blacklotus told him "Let's play together since lancer prime is probably taken. I saw a lancer, Zelax, higher already, yesterday", he chose to continue his own way and take it easy. When Blacklotus earned the title, Justiice felt a bit fooled.
"I didn't know Zelax wasn't up ahead anymore" confessed Blacklotus.

It's a popular thing to say that people at the top are lonely. I was wondering how was the life of level 60 players. And it is lonely, indeed. There is not many level 60 players yet, even if the population is growing every day. The Dungeon Finder queues are awfully long (sometimes even 4 hours!) So, what is left for a lvl 60 player?
"Beeing 60 is being Outlaw, or leveling alts" concludes Ironman. The massacred population of Fey Forest can witness this sad truth.

Interview with Ironman, Samael's first Prime.

Interview with Ironman, server's first Prime.

Malera: First of all, let me congratulate you Ironman, to the servers first Prime!
IronMan: Thank you

Malera: First question, who are you? Tell us a little about yourself!
IronMan: I'm a long time MMO player, before TERA I was playing a small sandbox MMO called Mortal Online.

Malera: Okay, achieving "Server First" is no easy task! Do you have any other experience with similar achievments in other games?
IronMan: The only other MMO that I tried for server first was Rift. I played on Whitefall and was the highest Mage, would have been server first 50 Mage but at 48 I ran out of quests and got bored with it so I rerolled and still got third 50 Warrior

Malera: How did you prepare before powerlevling? Stacking up lots of energydrinks?
IronMan: I bought fruit, tea and biscuits and some energy drinks. I never did end up drinking the energy drinks, though. I tried sleeping 12 hours the night before but couldn't sleep as I was pretty nervous about the title.

Malera: So, you did plan to get this title? How long have this been on your mind?
IronMan: I didn't actually know there was an achievement for it until head start. So that's when I started planning for it.
I levelled a Berserker to 38 first and then Lancer & Warrior to 25/28 then I finally settled on Slayer, got him to 38 on the Monday before launch and did as many repeatables as I could be bothered with on Tuesday. Alot of people I asked said I wouldnt get it because we only had enough repeatables for level 39.5ish, a lot of others had them stacked to 42 but in the end that didn't really matter as we had more willpower to stay awake, which is what we were hoping for.

Malera: This leads me to my next question, about how many hours a day did you have to play to get the title?
IronMan: It took 49 hours to get the title, played straight through could have been a bit less, but we got stuck grinding and decided to try different repeatables to see what was best to grind.

Malera: Once getting the title, did you do anything special to celebrate?
IronMan: High fived each other and then slept for a long time

Malera: Can you share any tips for people that wish to try for titles like these in the future?
IronMan: Sure! Never give up, if you get stuck you just have to power through. I was ready to quit at 55 as I had to grind an entire level but my partner kept me going and in the end we got the title. Also, if you can, make sure you are able to stay awake for the duration. Others might get it if you have to go to sleep!

Malera: Last question! What are you looking forward to in Tera?
IronMan: I'm looking forward to how they are going to improve PvP - I really think this game has the potential to be an awesome PvP game as it's very skill based and every fight is different

Malera: Okay! Well, thank you for taking your time talking with me!
IronMan: No worries hopefully you got something useful out of all that

Malera
